Earthmoving and Landscaping Contractor will use accounting
software to unearth management reporting information
Geddes Group specialist contractors, quarrymasters, golf course
constructors, skip hire and waste disposal, farmers, demolition,
earthmoving and haulage contractors, has placed an order with
accredited systems reseller, Castle Computer Services, for business
and accounting software. Castle will implement Exchequer to provide
Geddes Group with an easy-to-use, flexible system that will
streamline its financial management processes and project
costing.
With support for its UNIX system being withdrawn, Geddes Group
needed a business and accounting infrastructure that would provide
the organisation with better management reporting information and a
much clearer insight into project profitability.
Dorothy Smyth, Director at Geddes Group, explains, "The
functionality within Exchequer and in particular the Project Csting
module means that we will now be able to track the profitability of
a project by accessing information such as the invoices that are
being accrued far more easily, providing us with a very effective
method for monitoring and controlling project costs."
The OLE Report Writer module will bring significant benefits to
Geddes Group, as its unique drill-down functionality and ability to
seamlessly link between Microsoft Excel and the financial
management data held within Exchequer. This enables the
organisation to speed up the processing of information from one
database to another, providing real live data at any given time
within a user friendly format.
Mrs Smyth comments, "The OLE links within Exchequer make reporting
via Excel incredibly easy. Previously the completion of reports was
a very cumbersome task, as it took an exceedingly long time to
extract the necessary data from our UNIX system. However I will be
able to analyse all ongoing projects at any given time and provide
managers with up-to-date reports directly to their desktops."
Geddes Group looked at a number of accounting & business
solutions in the market, but chose Exchequer because of its ease of
use, functionality and low cost of ownership. In addition, Geddes
Group has an excellent working relationship with reseller Castle
Computer Services.
Mrs Smyth continues," To date we have received excellent
support from Castle which gives us confidence that the
implementation will be completed on time and within budget."
Commenting on the company's future plans for its IT system, Mrs
Smyth explains, "As a contractor in the construction industry it
may be necessary for us to adopt Exchequer's fully integrated CIS
module. This software is fully approved by the Inland Revenue and
will ensure that we are able to automate the employment and tax
deductions of sub-contract labour."
